Sport and science: a golden combination
Wouter Gösgens has a passion for sport and performance improvement. With a background in movement sciences, he firmly believes in the power of data analysis and technology to help athletes push their limits. “My passion is to help athletes and teams get the best out of themselves. This can be achieved through the right tests, insights, and data analysis,” says Wouter. During his studies, he learned how scientific methods and technologies can optimise training and enhance performance.
Balancing work and sport
Alongside his sporting ambitions, Wouter works as a BVS editor at RIGD-LOXIA, where he focuses on rail traffic control information systems. It is a role he successfully balances with his curling career.
“It’s great to have a job that I can combine with my sport,” he says. “Still, in the future, I would love to do something that aligns more closely with my studies. That can be challenging, as I’m often abroad for training and competitions.” His ambition? A career where he can further develop movement sciences and sports innovation.
The power of teamwork
One of the most valuable lessons Wouter has taken from his sporting career is the importance of collaboration. “In curling, it’s not just about individual performance - it’s about teamwork,” he explains. “You have to trust each other, communicate well, and work together to achieve the best results.”
This applies not only in sport but also in the workplace. “In elite sport, success isn’t just about your own performance; it’s also about making your team stronger.” This perfectly aligns with Vebego’s vision: helping people bring out the best in themselves and each other.
Innovation as the key to success
In addition to his experience as a top athlete, Wouter has a clear vision for the future of sports science and innovation. “Sports innovation is the future. By using technology and scientific insights effectively, we can enhance performance, prevent injuries, and strengthen teams.”
As a proud sponsor of the Dutch Curling Association, Vebego contributes to the development and professionalisation of the sport in the Netherlands. Together, we are committed to helping athletes and teams grow – both on and off the ice.
Raising the bar together
Wouter is determined not only to improve his own performance but also to elevate the sport as a whole. By combining teamwork, data analysis, and scientific insights, he contributes to innovation within the curling world.
With the support of main sponsor Vebego, the Dutch Curling Association can continue to build on the growth and success of curling in the Netherlands. Because together, we bring out the best in people – in sport and at work.
